Andria Cheng, a former retail reporter with MarketWatch.com and The Wall Street Journal, has joined research firm eMarketer to help it start a retail news product.

eMarketer Retail launched on Tuesday.

Cheng left MarketWatch and The Journal in August 2015 after eight years. She also worked at for Bloomberg News from 1999 to 2007.

“The ways in which technology and changing consumer behavior have disrupted the retail industry and compelled  companies to respond have always fascinated me,” said Cheng. “I look forward to continue telling these agenda-setting stories that are relevant to both retailers and consumers.”

She has a master’s degree in journalism from UNC-Chapel Hill and originally came to the U.S. from Taiwan as a Rotary Ambassadorial Scholar.

Cheng was ranked from 2013 through 2016 as a top retail industry influencer by retail software firm Vend from its independent analysis of social media and other influencer metrics.
