Erin CarlyleErin Carlyle, who has covered real estate for Forbes for the past two years, is leaving the magazine.

Here is the email she sent to her colleagues:

Tomorrow is my last day at Forbes. I am leaving to take a job at Houzz, a Palo Alto, Calif., start-up within walking distance of my apartment, where I will be writing about the financial side of home renovation and design. I am excited about the new job (and the short commute!) but sad to leave you all.

My four and a half years at Forbes have been filled with adventure. I’ll buck tradition and not call out names here (there are too many), but tell you that I am so very grateful that this publication gave me the opportunity to learn, work with wonderful people, travel, enjoy incredible professional freedom, and feel part of a great team—first on the wealth team, then as part of the business team. As fun and satisfying as the work itself has been, the highlight has always been the great colleagues. I wish you all the best and feel very lucky to have spent these past years with you. So, thank you!!

Please don’t be strangers!

Carlyle holds a bachelor’s degree in English from Stanford University and a master’s degree from the Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism. She previously worked at the Santa Maria Times and the Orange County Register.
