Anne QuitoQuartz editor in chief Kevin Delaney sent out the following announcement on Monday:

I’m happy to announce that Anne Quito is joining Quartz as our design reporter, starting today.

Anne will cover a range of topics, from visual design, corporate branding, and product design to workplace design and architecture. She’s a rare writer who has demonstrated the ability to tackle such a broad swath of topics, and brings the expert eye of a professional designer and art director.

Anne has contributed essays to numerous design publications and her MFA thesis on the nation branding of the world’s newest country, South Sudan, was recently featured on NPR. (You can read an adaption of her thesis here.)

She holds a master’s degree in visual culture from Georgetown University and an MFA in design criticism from the School of Visual Arts. Anne is also the founding director of Design Lab, an in-house design studio within an international humanitarian development organization. She’ll continue to work part-time there alongside her Quartz role, spending several days each week in the NYC Quartz offices. Anne speaks Tagalog. You can follow her at @annequito

Please join me in welcoming Anne.
