Jason Karaian, global finance and economics editor at Quartz, sent out the following announcement on Monday:

Hello Quartz,

I’m happy to announce that John Detrixhe is joining the editorial team as Future of Finance reporter. He will expand our coverage of innovation in trading, payments, banking, and everything to do with how we manage money. He starts on May 30, based in London.

John was most recently a Market Structure reporter at Bloomberg, covering topics including Brexit, fintech, blockchain, and high-frequency trading. In this role, he also generated several scoops on the attempted merger between the London Stock Exchange and Deutsche Börse. John originally joined Bloomberg in New York in 2008, an exciting time to cover corporate finance, bond markets, and currencies. Before that he worked in publishing, for both Houghton Mifflin and McGraw-Hill.

John has a bachelor’s degree in English from Marquette University and a master’s in journalism from Northwestern. He’s run five marathons, and counting. You can follow him at @johndetrixhe.

Please join me in welcoming him.
