Politico reporter to join Bloomberg

April 5, 2010

Lisa Lerer, a reporter for Politico, has been hired by Bloomberg News to work in its Washington bureau, according to Betsy Rothstein of FishbowlDC.

Rothstein writes, “She has been with the publication for about three years and is on the congressional team in which she covered lobbying, policy and economic issues.

“Lerer is the fifth scribe to leave Politico in recent weeks. The list includes: Patrick O’Conner (Bloomberg News), Victoria McGrane (Dow Jones Newswires), Pia Catton (WSJ) and Michael Calderone (Yahoo News).”

Before that, she worked for The American Lawyer, writing about big law firms, lobbying, and lawsuits. The position sent her to China, Silicon Valley and through the wilds of court filings, where she wrote stories on developing legal systems, legal strategy in the 2004 elections and billion dollar lawsuits. Most importantly, she realized that she never wanted a job that billed by the hour.
