Screen Shot 2015-11-05 at 5.01.01 PMTammy Mencel, the publisher of the Minneapolis-St. Pau Business Journal, is moving to Honolulu to become publisher of its sister paper, the Pacific Business News.

Editor Dirk DeYoung writes, “Mencel has regularly vacationed in Hawaii with her husband, Kurt, and two children. She considered PBN a ‘dream destination’ within the company knowing full well that the two communities couldn’t be more different in many ways, Shaw said.

“She has been publisher of MSPBJ since December 2007. She joined the paper in 1999 as an advertising account executive after starting her career in retail. She was promoted to advertising director in 2005.

“Tammy attended Minnesota State University in Mankato and Normandale Community College in Bloomington.

“‘It is bittersweet for me to leave my team at MSPBJ and all of my friends in the community,’ Mencel said. ‘I know that MSPBJ will continue to thrive and achieve great things. Being a native of the Twin Cities, it will always hold a special place in my heart. And don’t worry, I will be back to vacation in the summer.'”
