OLD Media Moves

Ottawa Business Journal sold

August 12, 2010

The Ottawa Business Journal has been sold to a group that includes Mark Sutcliffe, one of its founders and publisher until 2002, and its current publisher, Michael Curran, according to a story on its site.

The story states, “As a result of the transaction, OBJ will become part of Great River Media Inc., an Ottawa company that publishes the Kitchissippi Times community newspaper, the national running magazine iRun and the Ottawa Chamber of Commerce magazine The Voice.

“Great River Media was launched in 2003 by Mr. Sutcliffe and Ms. Neil. With the acquisition of OBJ, Mr. Curran will become a partner in Great River Media and will assume the role of president of the company.

“‘I’m thrilled that we’re adding OBJ to Great River Media,’ said Mr. Sutcliffe. ‘Obviously I have had a long connection to the newspaper, I know how important it is to the business community, and I see great potential for OBJ in the years ahead.

“‘It’s great that OBJ is returning to local ownership and I’m really happy to be joining Mark and Donna at Great River Media,’ said Mr. Curran. ‘We all worked together at OBJ in the past and we’re very excited about building on OBJ’s successful track record in this community.'”
