O’Leary leaving “Marketplace” as weekend show is ending
Deborah Clark, senior vice president and general manager of “Marketplace,” sent out the following announcement on Wednesday:
To our loyal listeners,
We recently announced Marketplace Weekend will conclude production at the end of June. While difficult, this decision will allow us to increase investment across new platforms, while focusing on our flagship broadcast offerings: Marketplace, Marketplace Morning Report and Marketplace Tech. We’re grateful to the entire Weekend team – many of whom will stay on in new roles across our digital and on-demand portfolios – for their work on the program. Host Lizzie O’Leary will host the show through its completion, but has decided to leave her formal role at Marketplace. That said, you will still hear her as a fill-in host on our various programs and we’re thrilled to have her stay involved in that capacity. Please tune in through the end of the show and enjoy the “best of” episodes we’ll be airing in July. As always, we’re grateful for your support of our programs and our mission. We continue to be committed to raising the economic intelligence of the country and look forward to doing that in new ways for audiences in the future.
