New York paper combines Sunday biz section with lifestyles

April 24, 2009

The Times Herald-Record in Middletown, N.Y., is combining its Sunday business and Sunday Living sections into a new section called Balance.

A story on its Web site states, “The marriage of personal finance, lifestyle and entertainment content, Balance will help readers juggle their finances, make the most of free time and share ideas on how best to adjust to new economic realities.

“Quick-hit items — like how to craft the perfect resume — and long-form journalism — on how to pay for your child’s education, for example — will punctuate Balance, which will also include Sunday Living staples, such as advice columns, puzzles and TV listings.

“Joining Balance on Sunday is a new real estate section called Homes.

“Homes, which replaces the current Real Estate section, takes direct aim at real estate issues and trends in the Hudson Valley and the Catskills, with a panel of local experts and a weekly spotlight on a specific town or community.”
