New Mexico paper hires biz reporter

The Albuquerque Journal has hired Kevin Robinson-Avila, a veteran New Mexico journalist with three decades of experience, for its business desk.

A story on the paper’s website states, “Specifically, he will be the lead reporter on energy issues, technology, venture capital and the Public Regulation Commission. Most recently he was the technology, venture capital and energy issues reporter for the New Mexico Business Weekly.

“Robinson-Avila began his journalism career in Central America in 1983, where he worked for nine years as a foreign correspondent. He was economic affairs editor, and later editor, from 1992-1998 at the University of New Mexico’s Latin American Data Base.

“He served as a staff reporter at the Business Weekly from 1998-2000, then worked as assistant editor for New Mexico State University’s Agricultural and University Communications. He returned to the Business Weekly in 2006 as a senior reporter.”
