Mike Elswick, who had been business editor at the Longview News-Journal for several years before leaving to become managing editor at another paper, is returning to that position, according to a story in Sunday’s paper.

He replaces Jo Lee Ferguson, who is becoming city editor.

The story stated, “Ferguson began her career as an intern at the News-Journal. As a reporter, she wrote about police and emergency response, city government and schools before becoming business editor. In the past year, Ferguson also has coordinated and edited stories for the weekly Food section. She will continue that role. Ferguson lives in Longview with her husband, News-Journal Design Director Randy Ferguson.

“Elswick recently returned to the News-Journal after working several years as managing editor at the Marshall News-Messenger. In addition to business editor, Elswick has worked as a city reporter and an East Texas regional reporter. He lives in Longview with his wife, Nancy. Their adult children and grandchildren also live in Longview and Dallas.”
