Narisetti replaced as Mint editor

December 26, 2008

Raju Narisetti, the editor of The Wall Street Journal Europe who left in 2006 to start a business newspaper in India called Mint, is being replaced in that position.

A story on Mint’s site stated the paper announced the “naming managing editor R. Sukumar to the position of editor, which he will take over from Raju Narisetti, effective 1 January. Mint’s editorial pages editor Niranjan Rajadhyaksha will become managing editor while still retaining his prior responsibilities, said HT Media chief executive Rajiv Verma in a Friday memo.

“Sukumar, 39, will report to Verma. Narisetti will become an advisor to HT Media, joining an outside advisory team that includes Dipak Jain, dean of the Kellogg business school at Northwestern University, and Nigel Oakins, founder of Oakins Media Partners in Bangkok, who offer ‘strategic inputs from time-to-time’, Verma said.

“Sukumar, who joined HT Media in 2006, is a 14-year veteran of business journalism and was previously managing editor of ‘Business Today’ magazine. Rajadhyaksha, who also joined HT Media in 2006, has 20 years experience in business journalism and was previously deputy editor of ‘Business World’ magazine.”
