Nalley named editor of ForbesLife

November 4, 2009

Forbes announced Wednesday that Richard Nalley has been named the new editor of ForbesLife, the luxury lifestyle and culture bi-monthly magazine published by Forbes. In this new position, he will be responsible for all content of the magazine.

Nalley has been with ForbesLife (formerly Forbes FYI) since 2001, and he was most recently a senior editor, responsible for originating, planning, assigning and writing articles on topics that have ranged from personality profiles and book reviews to a trip down the Peruvian Amazon. He also does numerous speaking engagements on behalf of Forbes throughout the year, discussing wine, travel and luxury lifestyle topics.

“Richard is a great talent with expertise in all areas of luxury lifestyle and culture,” said ForbesLife president Robert Forbes in a statement. “He was deeply involved in the revitalization of ForbesLife that began in fall 2008, and under his stewardship, ForbesLife will continue to bring excitement and enduring value to our readers.”

Prior to joining Forbes, Nalley was a columnist and contributing editor at Esquire, Men’s Journal and Departures, and wrote the nationally syndicated weekly newspaper column, “Wine Talk” for Copley News Service. He is a past winner of The Nation’s Poetry Prize and the James Beard Foundation Award for Magazine Wine & Spirits Writing. A cum laude graduate with a BA from Harvard University, Mr. Nalley was President of The Harvard Advocate, 1978-1979, editing its content, its managing staff and year-long reading series.

He replaces Gary Walther, who joined the magazine in 2008.

ForbesLife is the dedicated luxury lifestyle and culture publication of Forbes. The magazine is mailed to Forbes subscribers bimonthly.
