MorningstarMorningstar has closed the 10kwizard.com Securities and Exchange Commission document service used by many business journalists.

Nadine Youssef, a Morningstar spokeswoman, told Talking Biz News:

We want to simplify and streamline our product lineup and focus on our core customer groups. The primary users of Morningstar Document Research are law firms and accounting firms, clients who typically do not use other Morningstar products.  We want to minimize disruption for our clients and are working with Intelligize, an industry leader in the area of SEC compliance and legal research, to offer special terms for clients who’d like to transition to its platform after their Morningstar subscription expires.

As mentioned below, MDR API, a service that delivers SEC and EDGAR filings through an API rather than through MDR’s web-based platform, is not affected. We’ll continue to support this offering, and clients who subscribe to the MDR API will not see any changes to their service.

In October 2015, Morningstar “retired” the Morningstar Document Research (MDR) web-based service because it was simplifying and streamlining its product lineup and focusing on other areas. The primary users of MDR were law firms and accounting firms, clients who typically do not use other Morningstar offerings.
