ClarionLedgerSam Hall, the executive editor of the Clarion-Ledger in Jackson, Miss., writes about how the Gannett paper plans to expand its business coverage.

Hall writes, “On Thursday we will launch our weekly Business Ledger, a new section that will be the focus of most of our business coverage. In addition to already popular features, we will provide multiple in-depth pieces and new column voices. We’ll also have a technology page focusing on both local and national trends.

:Throughout the week, we will continue to provide business coverage of breaking stories, most of which end up on our front page anyway. A retooled stocks package will be featured on 2A, and Bill Moak‘s column will appear both in the Business Ledger and at on other days in the A section of the paper.

Clay Chandler is our lead business writer, and his work will anchor this new section. Our metro reporters will contribute local business news, focused mainly on new business development. Our goal is to bring better focus, packaging and presentation to our business coverage. There’s a lot going on with our state economy and business development, and it’s a key part of our coverage area. With the weekly Business Ledger section, we can better highlight the most important stories and issues in the business community.”
