Tammy Mencel, the publisher of the Minneapolis-St. Paul Business Journal, writes about the weekly business newspaper’s redesign.

Mencel writes, “While many in media continue to lament the emergence of digital news and the resulting disruption to the status quo, we have embraced it. Over the past several years, these tools have allowed us to grow every aspect of our company — digital, events and print — to levels we would never have thought possible.

“The Business Journal currently averages more than 1 million page views and nearly 260,000 unique visitors to mspbj.com every month. We produce two digital newsletters that reach more than 17,000 executive subscribers daily. We also host more than 20 events each year, which draw more than 7,000 regional executives.

“The Business Journal has become truly a 24/7 news organization that serves our readers’ news and information needs faster, deeper and in a more comprehensive manner than ever before. Our staff of more than a dozen experienced journalists not only report the most important news stories in Minnesota’s business scene, they have the expertise to tell you what it means.

“The purpose of these changes is to provide our subscribers an increasingly fast and broad array of tools at your disposal to help you grow your business.”
