Jan Norman, who worked at the Orange County Register for more than 30 years covering small business and entrepreneurship, has retired and moved to Texas.

Norman joined the Register in 1981. Before that, she worked at a couple of other daily newspapers.

In describing her column, Norman had written, “I don’t own a small business because I never wanted my small-business coverage to be about me. It’s about you. And the experiences of thousands of entrepreneurs and small-business owners are better than one.”

“She worked here for more than 30 years and was one of the country’s top writers about small businesses and entrepreneurs,” said Register business editor Donna Wares in an email to Talking Biz News. “Because both are so important to our community and coverage, we are searching for a great replacement.”

The job description for Norman’s replacement can be found here.
