OLD Media Moves

Loeb Awards adds two new categories

January 2, 2011

The Gerald Loeb Awards, considered the Pulitzer Prizes of business journalism, will include to new categories — online enterprise and blogging — for 2011.

In addition, the awards have replaced its “feature writing” category with one called “explanatory.”

The call for entries begins Monday and continues until the end of January.

The online enterprise category is aimed at entries showing “exploitation of the digital medium, including interactive elements, with emphasis on content exclusive to the web.” The blogging category states that it is for “excellence in analysis and commentary.”

The new blogging category does not differ much from the longstanding commentary category, which includes “editorials, columns, syndicated columns, blogs, on-air or video commentary or analysis.”

The explanatory category states that its entries should be “exemplary in-depth analysis and clear presentation of a complex business subject. Print, television and online eligible.”

The categories can be found here.
