Layoffs at the Lexington Herald-Leader in Kentucky on Monday included Jeff Beach, the business editor, and long-time biz reporter Jim Jordan, according to multiple sources.

Beach had been at the paper since 2001. He previously was the city editor and news editor at the Grand Forks Herald in North Dakota for severn years. Beach is a 1990 graduate of the University of North Dakota.

Jordan reported on general business issues, including banking, insurance, and bankruptcies, for the Herald-Leader. He earned a BSJ from West Virginia University in 1969 and an MSJ from Murray State University in 1972.

Jordan, who had been at the paper for three decades, had been writing a blog called The Buzz that included items that didn’t make it into the paper. His last post was on March 18 — five days ago. He also wrote a regular column for the paper.
