Kiplinger has hired Ben Demers as its new social media manager.

In this position, Demers will take the lead on Kiplinger’s social media initiatives — directing strategy, creating content and expanding engagement across platforms such as Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn.

Additionally, Demers will be crafting new tactics to increase Kiplinger’s overall social reach, increase brand awareness and web traffic.

“We are very excited to have Ben join the Kiplinger.com team,” said Doug Harbrecht, director of new media at Kiplinger, in a statement. “His diverse experience and fresh approach will be a huge asset to us, allowing Kiplinger to take its digital programming to a new, multi-faceted level of audience engagement.”

Demers joins Kiplinger from Connections Media, where he spearheaded digital strategies and content for clients including NBC/Telemundo, Bloomberg LP and Bloomberg Philanthropies, PhRMA and the Auto Alliance.

Previously, Demers served as an advance associate for Vice President Joe Biden, supporting media relations and logistics for the office’s travel and events.
