Joyce Hayhow announced Monday that she will retire as publisher of the Kansas City Business Journal, an American City Business Journals paper.

Brian Kaberline, editor of the Business Journal, writes, “Hayhow, who led the publication for the past 23 years, said that she enjoyed her years with the Business Journal but that it was time for a change. She plans to spend more time with her family and will work with the Business Journal‘s parent company on a project basis.

“‘Although it’s hard to leave a career I love, and people I admire and respect, it’s the right time in my life to start a new chapter,’ she said. ‘I will be eternally grateful for the 27 years I’ve had the privilege to work with my Business Journal family and the opportunities and friendships my position has afforded me. I don’t take a minute of it for granted.’

“Although Hayhow announced her pending departure as publisher, the timing has not yet been determined.

“Hayhow joined the Kansas City Business Journal in 1987 as sales manager and became publisher four years later, succeeding Steve Roling.”
