RecodeRecode editor in chief Dan Frommer sent out the following announcement:

Team Recode,

In two weeks we’ll be launching a new era of Code Conference, our first year with Kara Swisher and Peter Kafka as co-producers following Walt Mossberg’s retirement last year. It will be great.

With that context, I’m excited to announce that Kara and Peter officially have new roles at Recode as well. Peter is becoming Recode’s Executive Editor and Kara is now Recode’s Editor At Large.

(Please keep this internal for now — we’ll be announcing these changes more publicly soon, but I wanted you to hear this from me.)

This fall will mark ten years since Peter joined Kara and Walt at All Things D, Recode’s predecessor publication.

Long one of our leading journalists — and top in his field, covering the media industry now for two decades — Peter has also played a major role in Recode’s foundation and evolution, especially our voice, editorial sensibility, and healthy sense of skepticism.

He’s also been a close partner to me as we define and build all aspects of Recode. His title now reflects it.

Peter will continue to lead our media coverage and will be even more involved in big-picture thinking and decision-making. I’ve also asked him to play an increased role in our day-to-day news flow, helping sharpen our coverage.

You’ll still work primarily with Ed and me — and our reporting structure will stay the same — but expect some more of Peter’s attention, too.

Kara, meanwhile, continues to extend her reach, leading Recode’s first foray into TV with our “Revolution” partnership this year with MSNBC, hosting our most popular podcast, and more projects to come.

I’m excited for her to be able to focus even more on taking the Recode and Kara Swisher brands to new and bigger places.

Please join me in congratulating Peter and Kara!

Dan
