Kafka joins All Things Digital as senior editor

Peter Kafka, the former managing editor of Silicon Alley Insider, has become the senior editor of All Things Digital, the tech-related Web site run by The Wall Street Journal.

Kafka will also write a “MediaMemo” blog that will cover digital media, online advertising and East Coast tech news.

“Peter’s expertise covering digital media strengthens the offerings AllThingsD.com brings to our tech-savvy users,” said Walt Mossberg, co-executive editor of All Things Digital and Personal Technology columnist for The Journal, in a statement. “As point person for our New York media coverage, Peter will be filing early and often.”

All Things Digital co-executive editor Kara Swisher added, “Peter is a seasoned writer and blogger with extensive connections across the media, entertainment and technology industries. We’re thrilled to have him on the All Things Digital team.”

Since June 2007, Kafka was ME of Silicon Alley Insider in New York, where he was the site’s first hire and focused on enterprise and beat reporting as well as breaking news. Previously, Kafka spent 10 years as a reporter and editor at Forbes and Forbes.com covering media and technology. While with Forbes, he launched two tech columns and appeared on industry panels and TV appearances for CNN, BBC and CNBC.

He was a staff reporter with City Business in Minneapolis from 1995 to 1997 and earlier served as a stringer with the Milwaukee Journal and the Milwaukee Sentinel in Madison, Wis.
