Karen Johnson, a reporter for The Wall Street Journal in Canada, announced Friday to her colleagues that she is leaving the business newspaper.
In an email to her colleagues, Johnson wrote, “It’s true what so many of these emails say — the Wall Street Journal is a difficult place to leave. But today is my last day. Thanks for making the past five years in New York and Toronto the best of my career. It’s been a privilege to work with all of you.”
In an email to Talking Biz News, Johnson said she was not ready to announce her future plans.
From the Toronto bureau, Johnson has been writing about a range of topics, from Canada’s retail sector, to its economy, to its people. She spent three years as part of the Journal’s markets and economics team here, covering Canada’s currency, government bond market, central bank and finance department.
Prior to joining the Canadian team, Johnson spent about two years in New York as a copy editor on one of its Web teams.
Johnson is a Cantral Michigan graduate who previously worked for the Detroit Free Press and the Globe and Mail in Toronto.
