Janofsky joins Bloomberg LA bureau

Michael Janofsky, a former reporter in the New York Times’ Washington bureau, is joining Bloomberg’s LA bureau, according to an item on the LA Observed web site.

Michael JanofskyAt the Times, Janofsky covering domestic policy issues and currently specializing in energy and the environment. As a 20-year veteran of the paper, he returned to Washington in 2003 after serving four years as the Denver bureau chief, covering seven Western states and writing on a wide range of subjects including politics, legal issues, culture, education, health care, environment, energy, crime and immigration. He is considered one of the most prolific writers on the paper’s national staff.

Janofsky was asked to head the Denver bureau after five years in the Washington bureau, where he covered the Middle-Atlantic region. Additionally, he was assigned to cover the political campaigns and scandals of the Clinton administration. He traveled extensively with the vice president and occasionally with the president.
