How a biz journal will cover nonprofit news

Triad Business JournalLloyd Whittington, the managing editor of the Triad Business Journal, writes about how the paper will cover nonprofit news now that Todd Cohen has decided to stop writing a regular column.

Whittington writes, “This is certainly not the end of nonprofit coverage for TBJ, but it is a natural time to revisit how we cover the sector. Todd’s column has evolved, and in recent years featured highlights and briefs, ranging from new initiatives and fundraising campaigns to accolades and leadership changes. Uniquely equipped with the background, contacts and context, Todd made that look easy.

“Without Todd, we must now focus on the most significant nonprofit news. Rather than an amalgam of briefs, we will focus on news that is timely, significant and has a direct impact on business. Those are the areas that our readers demonstrate on a daily basis matter most to them.

“We will, of course, continue our exclusive lists of the region’s 25 largest nonprofits and 25 largest foundations. We will continue to consider photos from events for our Triad Scene section. As for leadership news, nonprofits can submit those to our People on the Move section.”
