The Houston Business Journal has hired Jordan Blum to cover energy.

A story on its website states, “Blum was Washington bureau chief for The Advocate in Washington, D.C., where he reported on politics and regulation, including energy. Before that, he served six years for The Advocate in Baton Rouge, La., where he covered higher education, as well as key impact stories, including Deepwater Horizon and Hurricane Katrina.

“Blum grew up in New Orleans and majored in journalism at Texas Christian University.

“‘I’m excited to see Jordan continue HBJ’s strong coverage of energy deals and dealmakers,’ said Editor in Chief B. Candace Beeke. ‘His experience with Washington politics and his background in the Gulf Coast will help him step easily into the energy conversation here.’

“Blum will also contribute to the Texas Business Journals free weekly email newsletter, Energy Inc. Texas Edition, which reaches nearly 15,000 subscribers.”
