Emily Nelson, the editor of Personal Journal at The Wall Street Journal, sent out the following to the staff on Monday:

I am delighted to announce that Elizabeth Holmes will take on an expanded new role as a senior style writer.

In her new position, Elizabeth will write a regular Personal Journal column on the marketing of style and changes in consumer habits, while also contributing to WSJ. Magazine, Off Duty, and other parts of the Wall Street Journal. The move reflects Elizabeth’s fantastic work finding new ways to tell deeply reported and virally popular stories.

As our entire newsroom works aggressively to build audiences on digital platforms, on social media and in video, Elizabeth has been an important pioneer leading the way, while continuing to deploy the substantial reporting skills she has built up in eight years here covering presidential campaigns and the retail industry, among other subjects. She will continue to report to me.

Please join me in congratulating Elizabeth on her new role.
