Bloomberg News reporter Alex Webb is moving to its Bloomberg Gadfly commentary service after covering Apple, which will now be covered by Mark Gurman.
Webb is joining Gadfly at the end of January and relocating to London from San Francisco, where he will be a columnist covering technology news across Europe.
Over the years, Webb has played a key role in breaking stories about Apple’s product pipeline, notably the decision to scale back much of the car project, VW’s role in Dieselgate, and European industrial deals.
He joined Bloomberg in 2011, firstly as a reporter in Frankfurt, covering transportation and industrials before moving to San Francisco in 2016. He is a graduate in French and German from University College London, with a masters in newspaper journalism from City University.
Gurman will take over the Apple beat, and continue to cover consumer technology products.
Gurman has broken stories on consumer electronics and other services created by Google, Facebook, Amazon, Apple and other top tech players.
He is also the host of “Gadgets with Gurman,” a weekly online consumer tech show where he reviews a highly anticipated product to help viewers get the most out of their devices.
He joined Bloomberg in 2016 after he graduated from the University of Michigan.
