francesco_guerrera_still_10600Almar Latour, publisher and executive vice president at Dow Jones Media Group, sent out the following announcement on Tuesday:

Colleagues,

We are excited to announce that Francesco Guerrera is joining Dow Jones Media Group in London as Head of Europe, starting on April 18th.

Francesco is one of the world’s leading business journalists and has worked in the UK, Europe, Asia and the U.S. leading award-winning teams of editors and reporters. He has an unrivaled track record of market-moving scoops and incisive reporting on the biggest financial stories. These include: breaking news on AIG’s attempt to stave off bankruptcy at the height of the financial crisis; landing the scoop on the attempted takeover by China’s CNOOC of U.S. rival Unocal; and overseeing The Wall Street Journal’s investigation of the extraordinary management meltdown inside bond giant Pimco, which won the Loeb Award in 2015. While at WSJ, Francesco also oversaw the publication’s scoop on the “London Whale”, a JP Morgan trader who ratcheted up billions of dollars in trading losses.

Most recently, Francesco was Associate Editor and Chief Financial Correspondent for POLITICO Europe, where he launched and led the publication’s coverage of financial services. Previously, he was Global Finance Editor at The Wall Street Journal, where he managed a team of some 200 reporters and editors. Before then, he was in charge of the Financial Times’ coverage of the 2008 financial crisis as U.S. Financial and Business Editor.

Francesco will build on our ambitious plans for the recently relaunched Financial News and other DJMG titles in Europe. He will help us reach an even bigger audience with the very best financial journalism across a range of platforms. His drive, ideas and commitment to high-quality journalism will be a great asset to DJMG globally too.

In his (limited) spare time, he writes plays and travels as much as possible, preferably to countries where the food is good.

We are thrilled to welcome him on board. Please join us in congratulating him on his new role.
