Gomes to write new WSJ column called Talking Tech

June 12, 2006

The Wall Street Journal will introduce “Talking Tech,” a new weekly question-and-answer column with technologyleaders who will discuss their products and views on trends, beginning Tuesday. The column will be authored by the Journal’s San Francisco-based technology columnist Lee Gomes.

Lee Gomes“Talking Tech” will run every Tuesday in the Journal’s Marketplace section, on a page featuring enhanced coverage of business and enterprise technology. It also will appear in the Journal’s Asia and Europe editions and will be carried on The Wall Street Journal Online.

“Talking Tech will be a to-the-point, incisive weekly conversation with some of the most important people in technology: company executives, leading researchers, industry analysts, entrepreneurs, venture, capitalists, investors and, of course, end users,” said Paul E. Steiger, managing editor of The Journal. “These columns will be as diverse as technology itself so to serve our readers broad
range of interests and needs.”

Talking Tech will allow industry leaders in technology to discuss their work in their own words. One week, it might feature a person running a corporate data base; the following week, it might be a university professor discussing breakthrough ideas about redesigning the Internet; another week, it could feature the youthful founder of a garage start-up who is intent on making his company the next Microsoft, Oracle or Google.
