FT journalists plan protest on job cuts

Dow Jones is reporting that the journalist who work for the Financial Times are planning a protest Thursday regarding planned job cuts at  the business newspaper.

Dow Jones reports, “FT management wants to ax 20 editorial jobs — but only 11 volunteers have come forward, the union said in a statement on its Web site.

“Former Labour cabinet minister Tony Benn will address a mass meeting in the canteen of the London-based company.

“On the same day, NUJ members at the paper will wear stickers opposing the job losses and pledging support for the union’s Stand Up for Journalism campaign.

“The decision to oppose the cuts was taken unanimously at a chapel meeting of around 100 people, the union said.”
