Richard Horgan of FishbowlLA writes about Jonathan Polakoff, a USC student who has turned an internship at the Los Angeles Business Journal into a full-time job.

Horgan writes, “The class of 2011 USC Annenberg School grad started at the Business Journal last summer as an intern, and when Greg Hernandez quickly came and went as the publication’s beat reporter earlier this year, Polakoff was able to jump into the vacated slot full-time in early June.

“Among the other topics covered recently by Polakoff are the efforts of John Wayne‘s family to put more of the actor’s memorabilia up for auction, the spotty start of Boingo wireless as a publicly traded company, and an update on the activities of the company responsible for fake Internet celeb ‘LonelyGirl15.’

“Via email to FishbowlLA, Polakoff says that USC business journalism professor Gabe Kahn was one of his key formative influences on campus. The Business Journal internship was the 25-year-old Bethesda, Maryland native’s very first such stint.”
