Fox to provide biz video to Yahoo Finance

December 4, 2006

According to USA Today, CNBC isn’t the only cable network looking to increase its presence on the Internet. Fox News is going to provide video to Yahoo Finance.

Reporter David Lieberman wrote, “‘This is our first portal deal,’ says Jeremy Steinberg, Fox News head of digital sales and development. ‘We haven’t done anything like this before. It’s a huge opportunity to drive awareness for Fox News, FoxNews.com and our business content.’

“The cable channel will provide clips from Your World with Neil Cavuto and Web-only video, including about 10 daily market reports, breaking news and investment and personal finance stories.

“The ad-supported venture will be called Fox Business Now and will have guaranteed placement on the Yahoo Finance home page.

“Steinberg says it’s just a coincidence that the initiative is launching the same time as CNBC.com. ‘We’ve been talking to Yahoo for quite awhile,’ he says.

“The Yahoo venture also is unrelated to Fox’s effort to create a business news TV channel. That is still in planning, although Fox has been hiring people and talking to cable and satellite companies that might carry it.”
