Fox Biz to expand into Northeast, Midwest markets

December 16, 2008

Fox Business Network announced Tuesday a deal with Charter Communications to expand its presence in the Midwest and Northeast regions to nearly 200,000 homes.

Beginning on Dec. 17, Fox Business will be added to the digital tier on Charter Cable, which will extend the network’s presence in Boston; Hartford, Conn.; Springfield, Mass.; Minneapolis, Minn.; Lincoln, Neb., and Duluth Superior, Minn.

“Charter has been an instrumental partner in helping to launch FBN, and we’re excited to expand our distribution with them adding new subscribers from the Northeast and Midwest,” said Tim Carry, the network’s senior vice president of affiliate relations, in a statement.Â

Fox Business recently announced a deal with Cox Communications to launch in nearly 2 million homes by Jan. 1.

The new deals bring Fox Business Network’s total distribution to more than 45 million homes. Charter Communications is the third-largest publicly traded cable operator in the U.S. and serves approximately 5.6 million customers in 28 states.
