Fournier hired as associate publisher of Crain’s Detroit

Crain’s Detroit Business announced Monday that Ron Fournier, an award-winning journalist, has been appointed associate publisher, leading editorial content strategy and work to expand new business and audience opportunities.

A story on its website states, “Fournier, 53, is coming to Crain’s from Atlantic Media, where he served as editor-in-chief of theNational Journal for two years and as senior political columnist for the National Journal and The Atlantic. Before joining Atlantic Media, Fournier was Washington bureau chief for The Associated Press and spent 20 years with the wire service. He is also a New York Times best-selling author of Love That Boy.

“‘We have a great newsroom team, led by Editor Jennette Smith,; Kramer said. ‘Ron will help our team create even more of an impact. As traditional news media has shrunk in newsroom resources, we think Crain’s Detroit Business has an even bigger role to play in Southeast Michigan and the entire state. Ron will work closely with me to develop long-term revenue, audience and editorial strategies for our brand.’

“Crain’s is one of 56 brands under the Crain Communications Inc. umbrella. Executive Vice President KC Crain joined Kramer in making the announcement.”
