Fortune writer joins WaPo biz desk

May 19, 2010

Washington Post business editor Greg Schneider sent out the following announcement to his staff:

“We’re thrilled to announce that Jia Lynn Yang will be joining the National Business and Economy staff to write and blog about policy that affects corporate America.

“As a staff writer at Fortune magazine over the past five years, Jia Lynn has covered everything from diapers to Google lobbying to the distribution of federal bailout funds (creating a cool graphic that filled us with jealousy). In her new role she’ll continue to deliver insight into the ways that business interacts with — and influences and worries about — Washington. She might blog about an obscure new rule on lithium batteries that’s jolting the electronics industry and then work on a front page story on the banking industry’s fears about the financial regulatory overhaul.

“A graduate of Thomas Jefferson High School in Alexandria, Jia Lynn has interned at the Los Angeles Times and National Journal. She speaks Mandarin and also hopes to contribute to coverage of China and economic issues.”
