Fortt leaves San Jose paper for Business 2.0

Jon Fortt will leave the San Jose Mercury News and join Business 2.0 magazine as a senior dditor, based in San Francisco, it was announced by editor Josh Quittner. Fortt joins the magazine on Sept. 6 and will help edit the “What Worksâ€? and “What’s Nextâ€? sections of the magazine.

“Jon has a great breadth of experience in the areas that Business 2.0 covers regularly. His addition will help amplify the insightful coverage we offer our readers every month,” said Quittner in a release.

Fortt covered business and technology at the San Jose Mercury News starting in 1999, with a primary focus on consumer and wireless technology. He also covered education, edited real estate and finance coverage, and launched the newspaper’s blog network strategy.

Prior to joining the Mercury News, he covered technology, telecommunications and utilities at the Lexington (Ky.) Herald-Leader. Fortt has appeared on CNN, CBS, and occasionally contributed to the KNTV “TechNow� broadcast. He is also an online representative on the board of directors of the Associated Press Managing Editors.
