Carolyn Pione Micheli, the former business editor at the Cincinnati Enquirer, has been named vice president of communications at newspaper publisher E.W. Scripps Co.

Tom Demeroplis of the Cincinnati Business Courier writes, “For the past four years Micheli has been communications director for CincyTech, a public-private seed-stage investor focused on startup technology companies in Southwest Ohio. Before joining CincyTech, Micheli was the business editor for the Cincinnati Enquirer.

“‘At Scripps we put a high value on effectively communicating our story with shareholders, employees and the great communities where we do business across the country,’ Scripps CEO Rich Boehne said in a news release. ‘Carolyn’s extensive experience with the news industry and with investors has prepared her well to be a strong contributor here at Scripps as we build new businesses for digital media consumers. She’s also one of us, a dedicated journalist motivated by a commitment to serve audiences and businesses in local communities across the country.’

“Micheli replaces Tim King, who took a position with the Scripps family office.

“Scripps is a media company based in Cincinnati that operates 19 television stations, 13 newspapers, the Scripps digital group and the Scripps Howard News Service.”
