Ex-Rocky biz reporter now running trade group

September 1, 2009

Joanne Kelley, who used to cover nonprofits as a Rocky Mountain News business reporter, is the new head of the trade group for Colorado philanthropists, according to a Denver Business Journal story.

The story states, “Kelley is executive director of the Colorado Association of Funders (CAF), an organization of businesses, foundations and others who regularly donate to charity.

“Dorothy Horrell, CAF board chair and president of the Bonfils-Stanton Foundation in Denver, said Kelley’s journalism background will help the group ‘make sure Coloradans understand who we are and what we do. Joanne’s background in storytelling and her familiarity with our work made her an outstanding choice for leading our efforts to raise awareness about philanthropy.’

“Among other duties, Kelley will ‘oversee development of monthly networking and education programs on such issues as health-care reform and poverty,’ the group said.”
