Gary Lamphier, the business columnist of the Edmonton Journal, is leaving the newspaper after 14 years.

Lamphier writes, “While the Oilers strung together four Stanley Cup wins, we spent the 1980s in Toronto — where our children were born — and the 1990s in Vancouver, where I covered business for various newspapers, including The Wall Street Journal and Financial Times of Canada.

“Although I had visited Edmonton on assignment several times over the years, I never dreamed I’d wind up joining the Journal in 2002. Nor could I have imagined wrapping up my career here nearly 15 years, 2,000 columns, 500 blog posts and 1,400 tweets later.

“But here we are. A chance meeting in 2002 with a former newspaper colleague who was then the Journal’s editor-in-chief led to my hiring as the newspaper’s business columnist. It’s been a great run, but today, it comes to an end.”
