Easton, American finance editor for Economist, wins award

Tom Easton, American finance editor at the Economist has been named Journalist of the Year 2017 by The CFA Society of the UK.

His piece: The Barbarian Establishment was “thought to be the individual article that best advanced investor education by virtue of its relevance, clarity and content,” according to the organization.

Easton joined The Economist in 2000, and was New York bureau chief before being appointed the Asian business editor in 2007. Previously he was the New York and Tokyo bureau chief for The Baltimore Sun, and a senior editor of Forbes. Easton writes on finance, law and capitalism.

Easton was a Gerald Loeb Award finalist in 2006.

The Economist was named the organization’s Publication of the Year for 2017. The award goes to the publication that has made the most significant overall contribution to the advancement of investor education over the past 12 months.
