Dow Jones names Lanza director of financial literacy

Almar Latour, publisher and executive vice president of the Dow Jones Media Group, sent out the following announcement on Thursday:

Colleagues,

I’m pleased to announce that Joe Lanza is appointed Director of Financial Literacy Initiatives at Dow Jones Media Group.

In this newly created role, Joe will be responsible for shaping and growing financial education products, events and content from Barron’s, MarketWatch and other Dow Jones Media brands.

Joe has a long history in the financial markets and information business. Most recently, he was at Thomson Reuters as Head of Sales, Americas Sales Specialists. Prior to that, he was SVP of Sales for Pricing & Reference Data Business at Interactive Data Corp.

This position also marks a return to Dow Jones for Joe. He previously was
Head of the Financial Markets business, which included Dow Jones Newswires, Private Markets, newsletters and other professional products. Previously, he served as VP & Managing Director of the sales & trading business here, and as VP & Head of Sales, Marketing & Product Management for the Newswires business in the Americas.

Prior to joining Dow Jones, Joe worked for Barra Inc. as the President of the retail division and held a variety of leadership positions with Reuters America, including SVP of Reuters Online Solutions & as a financial advisor for a New York-based investment firm.

He will report into Sterling Shea, Associate Publisher at Barron’s.
