Michael Reid, who earlier this year received a promotion to editor of global news coverage at Dow Jones Newswires, is leaving the business news service for a public relations job with institutional investor PIMCO.

Reid, who previously was a deputy managing editor of Dow Jones, is leaving the wire on Tuesday, he confirmed Monday afternoon to Talking Biz News.

Starting Nov. 8, Reid’s title will be vice president, media relations, within PIMCO’s marketing and communications group, doing media outreach, messaging and strategic marketing. He will be based in PIMCO’s New York office.

Reid, a native of New Zealand and graduate of the University of Auckland, worked for a couple of New Zealand newspapers and the Swindon (U.K.) Evening Advertiser before joining Dow Jones Newswires in 1997 in London. He was a news editor for European equities, moving to the U.S. in 2004 as the News Service’s deputy managing editor for features and enterprise.
