Dow Jones Chicago bureau chief to oversee all commodities reporters

August 12, 2010

The following announcement was sent out Thursday afternoon by Dow Jones Newswires managing editors Linda Fung and Steve Wisnfeski:

We are pleased to announce that Newswires Chicago Bureau Chief Doug Cameron has taken on the additional responsibility of helping oversee the commodities reporters in the Midwest. The expanded role is part of our effort to better coordinate our markets and corporate news reporting in the commodities sector.

Doug will work closely with editors in the Resources group to set the coverage agenda for commodities stories that serve the wide-ranging needs of Newswires, WSJ.com and The Wall Street Journal. This will include a Chicago-based commodities editor – a position that hasn’t yet been filled — who will manage a team of seven commodities reporters in Chicago and Kansas City.

Doug has ample experience covering financial markets and agribusiness. Since joining Dow Jones in 2008, he has spearheaded our coverage of companies such as Monsanto, Archer Daniels Midland and Bunge, in addition to major Midwest manufacturers, airlines and other transportation companies and exchanges. Prior to Dow Jones, Doug worked for seven years as a reporter and editor for The Financial Times in Chicago, Houston and London.

In his new role, Doug will report to Equities Managing Editor Linda Fung and Resources Managing Editor Stephen Wisnefski.
