Jeanne Cummings, a deputy editor at Bloomberg News, has been tapped to serve as head of Washington operations for the Mark Halperin-John Heilemann-led Bloomberg Politics project, sources there told Dylan Byers of Politico.
Byers writes, “Cummings will now serve as the point person between “Politics,” which will be run out of New York, and the Bloomberg News Washington bureau. Her appointment was announced in an internal meeting on Monday.
“The new role gives Cummings the lead Washington role in Bloomberg’s flagship politics site heading into the 2014 midterms and 2016 presidential election, though she will continue to report to the D.C. management.
“‘She is running a large team of reporters and will be reporting to Kerry Luft and Craig Gordon,” Bloomberg spokesperson Amanda Cowie said. Luft is Bloomberg news director; Gordon serves as Washington managing editor. Cummings’ official title will be Deputy Managing Editor.”
