Cole returning to WSJ as director of video content

Jarrard Cole is returning to The Wall Street Journal to become its director of video content.

Cole has been vice president of content at Scenic for the past seven months.

Before that, Cole spent five years at The Journal as a video journalist. He is an Emmy-nominated director and veteran of virtual reality and interactive video who launched and oversaw The Journal’s virtual reality storytelling unit.

Cole has produced more than 15 virtual reality projects on topics ranging from aging in Tokyo to the peace process in Colombia to how the show “Modern Family” gets made. He worked on the WSJ’s enterprise projects for five years, contributing to award-wining investigations and series.

Cole is a UNC-Chapel Hill graduate. While there, he was visual managing editor of The Daily Tar Heel as well as its photo editor.
