OLD Media Moves

CNBC viewership down in September

September 18, 2009

Data from Nielsen Media Research posted here shows that viewership for business news network CNBC is down in September compared to the same month in 2008.

The network is down 37 percent in its total audience, from 342,000 to 215,000 viewers, for the month through Sept. 16.

In the key 25 to 54 age demographic, CNBC is down 26 percent, from 106,000 to 78,000 viewers.

The decline continues a trend that began back in July, when the network saw a decline across almost all of its time slots.

When comparing July to September, the data is mixed. Back in July, the network averages 218,000 total viewers — more than in September. But the 25 to 54 viewers in July was 70,000 — less than in September.
