CNBC names new senior VP of biz news

May 13, 2009

Jeremy Pink, the current president of CNBC Asia, has been named the network’s new senior vice president of business news, replacing Jonathan Wald, who left at the end of March.

A memo from CNBC president Mark Hoffman on TVNewser states, “With almost 10 years experience at CNBC, Jeremy knows the brand well and has proven results on the programming and commercial side of the business. He first joined CNBC as Vice President of News and Programming in Europe in 2000 before moving on to Vice President of International News and Programming based in the U.S. and then to Singapore. Prior to joining CNBC, Jeremy worked in television in Asia, in digital media in New York and at CNN in New York and Atlanta. Jeremy holds an MBA from Duke University.

“During the transition process, Tyler Mathisen will continue to have day-to-day responsibility for Business News, before returning to his role as Managing Editor at CNBC. Tyler has done an excellent job in the last several weeks. I am grateful for his support and wisdom during this time. Tyler is a true team player, a respected voice in the world of business news and a terrific asset for CNBC.

“CNBC has an extraordinarily strong veteran team in place in Asia that will allow us to manage seamlessly during this transitional period. Given that we want to build on the tremendous momentum we are experiencing in Asia, we have already initiated a search to replace Jeremy to ensure that CNBC continues to be the fastest growing source and most respected voice in business in Asia.”
