CNBC senior vice president Nik Deogun sent out the following staff announcement on Wednesday afternoon:

I am pleased to announce that Kelly Evans will join CNBC’s on-air team, effective February 27. Her initial assignment will be in London.

Kelly has been a reporter and columnist for The Wall Street Journal, penning the influential “Ahead of the Tape” column. She also hosts the daily “News Hub” program on WSJ.com and has been a frequent guest on several television networks, including CNBC. Kelly joined the Journal in 2007 covering real estate and economics.

Kelly graduated magna cum laude with a bachelor’s degree from Washington & Lee University in Lexington, Virginia, where she was a George Washington Honor Scholar, and four-time scholar-athlete.

Please join me in welcoming Kelly to CNBC.

One plan, Talking Biz News is told, is to have Evans host “Worldwide Exchange” from London.
